Author visits St. Paul's Lutheran School

St. Paul's Lutheran School PTL in rural Arlington hosted St. Paul's alumni, author and Sweet Basil Avenue business owner Jenny (DiGiorgio) Carlson to read and speak to the preschool-second grade classrooms her first children's book, "Ballerina Rats." The children enjoyed hearing the story about Carlson writing and illustrating her book.

The book is about Lynn, a little ballerina, who needs to get her hair brushed every morning, but she doesn't want her mom to brush it because it takes too long. Her mom distracts her with a story of how the ballerina rats come in the middle of the night, dance in her hair and tangle it up.

By the time the mom's story is done, Lynn's hair is brushed. The lesson to learn is that it always helps to look for the fun and positive side of things when you have to go through something difficult.

The classrooms were happy to obtain a signed copy of Carlson's book, "Ballerina Rats" along with a Ballerina Rat Book Buddy that Carlson made in her shop Sweet Basil Avenue.
