The Arlington High School football team avoided its second shutout loss of the season Friday with a fourth-quarter touchdown.
Ben Flesner scored on a 3-yard run, but the Class C2 No. 10 Raymond Central Mustangs still won at home, 41-8. They improved to 3-0 this season, while coach Troy Schlueter's Eagles dropped to 1-2 after scoring 30 points during the previous week's win at Conestoga and none against Fort Calhoun in the opener.
Raymond Central, however, produced more than 30 points by halftime against AHS. It produced four first-quarter touchdowns and added a fifth during the second for a 35-point halftime advantage.
The Mustangs' Tysen Taylor crossed the goal line with the ball during the third quarter, too, pushing the home squad's advantage to 41.
The Eagles' Killian McIntosh, meanwhile, followed Flesner's fourth-quarter touchdown run with a 2-point conversion score. He finished with 35 rushing yards, while Dallin Franzluebbers led Arlington with 50 on 17 carries.
Quarterback Owen Ladehoff was 2-for-2 in the passing game for Coach Schlueter, producing 20 yards. Cooper Staats (17 yards) and McIntosh (3) were the pass recipients.
Altogether, AHS produced just 126 offensive yards to Raymond Central's 387.
The Eagles next compete 7 p.m. Friday at home against Norfolk Catholic.
