Eagles celebrate Nielsen, Taylor

The Arlington High School softball team celebrated its seniors Tuesday night.
Both Britt Nielsen and Teagan Taylor were recognized for their efforts before and after the game, though the Eagles couldn't quite come back to earn a win against Wahoo at the RVR Bank Sports Complex. The Warriors won 16-7, dropping AHS to 12-15 overall.
Coach Janelle Lorsch's team started the home loss behind through just one inning. Wahoo scored twice during the top half of the first frame. It pushed its lead to 8-0 before Arlington scored five runs during the bottom of the fourth inning to pull within three.
The Warriors answered, though, producing an 11-5 advantage through six innings and adding five runs to their total during the top of the seventh. AHS scored two runs during the final inning, too, but it was not near enough.
The Eagles were scheduled to close out regular season play Thursday with a Douglas County West triangular. They'll next compete, however, during Monday's Class C District 2 Tournament at Hackberry Fields in Wahoo. Coach Lorsch's team opens postseason play there at 2 p.m. against Freeman before a potential finals tilt against Wahoo Neumann, Centennial or Chase County at 4.
