Arlington Juniors close season with loss

Seward wins Area tourney game, 12-4

Posted

The Arlington Junior Legion baseball team tried to extend its season Sunday at Elkhorn Mount Michael, if only for an inning.
The Post 71 Eagles scored four fifth-inning runs to try and avoid a run-rule loss to Seward during Class B Area 4 Tournament play, but the ZKE Storage squad wasn't having it. Seward scored again during the bottom half of the fifth frame, producing a 12-4 victory.
The loss capped Arlington's season after a first-round tournament loss to Wahoo on July 12.
Before the end, though, the Eagles' Jack Morgan, Tanner Kyllo and Wes Monke loaded the bases during the top of the fifth inning. Luke Sharp and Peyton Marfisi batted next, producing back-to-back two-RBI doubles.
The batters' efforts, however, proved to be too little, too late.
