The 40th anniversary of the Cornhusker State Games began Thursday in Lincoln with the opening night ceremonies.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Josiah and Rebekah Allick served as torch bearers for the event, which took place at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The Games continue through July 21 with more than 70 sites hosting events in Lincoln, Omaha and more, according to cornhuskerstategames.com.
“Besides offering a wide range of competitions (from traditional Olympic sports such as Track & Field, Gymnastics and Swimming), Nebraskans’ competitive interests are served by less demanding events such as Cornhole, Mallwalk and Chess,” the website read.
A future Enterprise Media Group edition will include Washington County athletes' results. Email any photos or results you'd like to include to sports@enterprisepub.com.
