The fall sports postseason began Monday with district golf and subdistrict softball play.
Blair senior Mackenzie Storjohann earned a state golf berth, while both Blair and Fort Calhoun won their softball subdistricts.
Arlington, meanwhile, concluded its softball season in Wahoo.

Storjohann leads Bears: Coach Rachel Brown’s golf team earned fourth overall Monday at York Country Club, carding 415 strokes during the Class B District 3 Tournament. Storjohann finished with 96 individually, claiming 10th and qualifying for next Monday and Tuesday’s Class B State Championships in Gering. Tessa Nicholson added 100 swings for BHS, while Macy Schrad shot a 109 and Diane Mitchell carded 110 strokes. Sophie Kern shot a 111, too.

Blair wins home subdistrict: Coach Jennifer Fangmeier’s softball team shut out the Class B-2 Subdistrict, outscoring Platteview and Ralston by a combined score of 23-0. The Bears first beat Platteview 14-0 before a 9-0 win against the Rams. Brooke Janning earned both pitching victories, while both Kaitlynn O’Neil and Taytum Macholan hit subdistrict homers. The Bears are expected to host a district final Friday, though the matchup and start time has yet to be announced.

Pioneers earns two wins: Coach Mandy Taylor’s FCHS squad won the Class C-6 Subdistrict Tournament on Monday. The Pioneers cinched the 2-0 day with a 10-2, run-rule victory against the Central City Bison. In the opener, though, Addie Benoit hit two homers and Tacey Belina had one during a 15-1 victory against Gothenburg. Anna Taylor claimed the pitching win. The Pioneers will next play noon Friday during the district final round at home. The matchup hasn’t been officially announced by the NSAA.

AHS closes season: Coach Janelle Lorsch’s softball team played its last game of 2024 on Monday. The Eagles — led by seniors Britt Nielsen and Teagan Taylor — lost the Class C Subdistrict 2 opener to Freeman in Wahoo. With the 7-2 defeat, they finish the year 12-18 overall.
